On August 24, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners voted 6-1 to increase transportation impact fees to 100% for the first time in 9 years! Our campaign to ensure developers pay their fair share would not have been successful without the District 5 Neighborhood Advisory Council (D5 NAC).
Co-chairs Dr. Kelly Semrad and Eugene Stoccardo, Council Members Heath Constantine, Anna Pepper, and Lyrae Williams were instrumental in persuading the Mayor and Commissioners that the County had been leaving money meant for roads on the table for far too long.
Watch snippets of their impassioned speeches here:
Citizen involvement with local government is REQUIRED to make changes that serve the community’s best interest at large. Thanks to the D5 NAC, Orange County will collect over $18 million in roadway needs, rather than not, following the measure taking effect in December 2021.
The District 5 Neighborhood Advisory Council continues to meet monthly and is currently working on projects to conserve environmentally sensitive lands and encourage smart development in the UCF Corridor. Visit the D5 NAC tab of our website to learn more. We are currently looking to add members to our Council!
If you are frustrated with government policies or practices, the perfect time to get plugged in is now!
