District 5 Neighborhood Advisory Council
About the Council
The Council has been a project near and dear to my heart and four years in the making! Before I was elected, I was a citizen advocating for my community. The Commissioner, at the time, was not listening to the over 10,000 petitions signatures that I had worked with other community members to collect. When I was elected, my goal was to make sure that I created a system where the citizens could be heard and a part of their local government.
The plan had 3 phases:
- Find the Problems: Hold community meetings throughout the district to hear the concerns.
- Find the Solutions: Create a strategic plan based on the findings and confirm them.
- Implement the Solutions: Create a Council of citizen members who will work with me to implement the solutions to the problems discovered in phases 1 and 2.
I am proud and excited for the citizens that took me up on the offer to join the Council and be part of something that is the first of its kind in Orange County.
You can be a part of it too. Here’s how:
- Join the Council. Enter your name for consideration when there are vacancies.
- Attend the virtual Council meetings and provide comments during the Public Comment session.
- Submit a policy idea for the Council to review.
- Sign up for the Newsletter and follow us on social media to learn of Calls to Action when the Council will need your support to implement solutions they have proposed.
